CD Playlist

This CD Playlist presents recorded musical events from various performance situations, some live, while others took place in the quietude of recording studios or private homes. Every performance situation enables something unique for those engaged with creative exchange and the various tracks offered here make this point salient. Though each piece was improvised, preparation was brought to bear in all cases. The extent of this varied greatly ranging from a few shared words, to precisely established instrumental set-ups worked out over the course of many months. But whatever the case in this regard, no pre-established music-linguistic criteria per se were employed, thus leaving open to spontaneity, form and content.
However, as Feeling to Thought publishes new releases it will become increasingly clear that it is not so much a matter of either/or but more a case of what it is that occurs on any given occasion at the intersection of these intricate aspects of creative communicative exchange.
In terms of my research in Collective Autonomy all performance situations generate insights. Whether solo or group renderings, whether improvised or composed music, it is in the act of projecting feelings and thoughts and experiencing communication in the light of having done so – the element of spontaneity in dialogue with reception and reflection – that paths on which we may travel and intersections on which we might share our human minds are revealed. The texts in addition to the music presented on this website embrace this from various perspectives.
This Playlist then provides an aural point of focus and of reference to these perspectives. It is not the music, the texts, the philosophy that underlies my work, nor the ‘artistic’ significance involved that should be considered as one distinct from the other. All these facets interpenetrate. All these facets I have developed in relation to each other.
Much generosity of time, energy, and devotion, has been given to these performances, a matter for which I’m deeply grateful. I express my heart-felt thanks to all the performers who have participated. I’m also appreciative of their having given permission to publish these documents here on this website. A word about the sound: Almost all these documents have been professionally recorded. This does not imply though a ‘Standard’ kind of sound nor a production process applicable to all. I therefore draw your attention to varying amplitude levels, not so much track to track but certainly project to project, indicated by the ‘Source Disk Title’ listing.

As much of the music here is finely nuanced the most rewarding listening will be attained through good quality headphones or a sound system hook-up.
